Richard Lopez, dj, producer, and remixer, also known to his cohorts as Slick Dada, was born on a scorching summer day way back in 1974. Born in Los Angeles, of Latin descent, Richard took up djing at the tender age of 13, by buying his first 12” record; “Summertime! Summertime”, by Nocera.

It was at this time that Richard began the mobile djing span of his career. Like most dj’s that were born in the 70’s, Richard started earning extra cash by playing Hip Hop and Freestyle dance music, like the Covergirls, and Nocera, at local weddings and dance parties.

Around 1992, during a short break from his blossoming dj career, Richard was introduced to what we all know to the sound of House Music. As Richard recalls; “I loved techno and freestyle, but a friend of mine gave me a mix tape of Doc Martin, and another of Marques Wyatt, I was changed after that…”

In 1997, after tuning up his dj craft, he became part of the Whoop-T-Whoop Entertainment crew. By helping assemble, and dj, the legendary Back Yard BBQ’s in Los Angeles, that hosted dj’s such as Roy Davis Jr., Marques Wyatt, and Eddie Amador, Richard was finally positioning himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the tricky Dance music industry.

His biggest schooling came between the years of 1999-2004 where Richard assisted Marques Wyatt in the promotion of the US’s top Deep House weekly; “DEEP.” During this time Richard played 4 times at DEEP, a slot that remains a dream to many great dj’s around the world.

With influences that range from Depeche Mode to Dj Sneak, it was only a natural progression that he begin his own musical works. Probably one of the best drummers on the West Coast and by hearing this man’s production, you will know why his first day on earth was a sweltering summer, disco day!
